“Bridges & Beyond: A Political Science Gathering” was a productive way to mark the closing days of the 2024-25 academic year.

The May 13 event was an opportunity for Political Science students, including recent graduates and those set to graduate that month, to hone networking skills in the company of local and state government officials and representatives.

A “Networking Bingo Challenge” was held to encourage conversations and for graduate students to practice sharing their research endeavors.

“I want to congratulate of all of our graduates,” said Professor Nathan Monroe, director of the Center for Analytic Political Engagement. “Political Science and CAPE has tried to develop a reputation for helping mentor students into their professional careers.

“Part of the spirit of tonight, with all of our guests here, was to encourage our students to get comfortable in this sort of professional social setting.”

Several students were honored at the event.

  • Elena Navarro, Meadow Moore and Karla Ramirez each received the Distinguished Political Science Graduating Student Award.
  • Brandon Bermudez and Eesha Datta each received the Outstanding Political Science Senior Thesis Award.
  • Twelve were honored as Center for Analytic Political Engagement (CAPE) Legislative Fellows: 2023, Katelin Cortez, Lawson Lasch, Jasmine Okincha, Ananya Veerapaneni; 2024, Elena Navarro, Meadow Moore, Yasmin Teran-Salazar; 2025, Jade Tirado, Mariel Garcia, Aarynn DeLeon, Gracie Jaime, Gabriela Vargas-Buell.
