Theodoridis Published in Political Behavior

January 30, 2019

Prof. Alex Theodoridis’ paper “What Goes with Red and Blue? Mapping Partisan and Ideological Associations in the Minds of Voters" has just been published in Political Behavior. Congratulations to Prof Theodoridis and his co-authors!

The paper studies the extent to which voters understand “what goes with what” at the ballot box. Using a conjoint experiment that asks respondents to guess the party or ideological of hypothetical candidates. The hypothetical candidates feature randomized issue priorities and biographical details. Voters with both high and low political knowledge tend to agree about what kinds of issue positions go with which parties. But biographical traits appear to pose greater informational challenges to voters.
